[Review] Pure Chat – Is Live Chat Software Something Your Site Needs?

There’s a handful of effective methods that you can use to convert your current site visitors to customers in real time. And the keywords here are “in real time.”

“Huh?” – you ask.

Okay, what I mean is this: When a visitor comes to your site, no matter what that site is trying to sell, they will be exposed to some copy, promotional materials, screenshots, maybe even videos or product demos.

That’s all cool, but what else can you do to catch that visitor right there and then?

As you can see in the headline, the answer is use live chat.

Live chats have been around for a while as a technology, but they were used mostly on what we’d call mainstream websites. In short, the technology was quite expensive.

What this means is that it allows you to display a small chat box to your site visitors in real time, and invite them to talk with a representative of your company.

The main question on your mind right now is likely this: “Why do I need such a thing?”

A perfectly valid question, I give you that, but the answer is simple:

No amount of great copy, or sales messages, can ever beat the interaction with a live human being on the other side.

What I mean by this is that if you catch a visitor in the exact moment when they’re looking at your sales copy, you have a much bigger chance of converting them!

Pure Chat simply provides you with tools to do so. But let’s look into it more deeply:

Pure Chat has a couple of interesting elements in it.

Chief of them is the main chat functionality – obviously – and the chat interface on its own.

First off, you get to customize the chat box itself. This is important because it lets you keep everything consistent with your brand identity and color scheme. In the end, you don’t want the chat box to stick out like a sore thumb.

Apart from that, the chat works just like you would expect. After setting up your account and integrating Pure Chat with your site (this is done through a simple code embed), you will be taken to your main dashboard, where you will be able to respond to incoming chats.

Additionally, on the right hand side, you can see the current visitor’s history. This includes the time they last visited you, all the previous conversations recorded, plus personal information such as email, location, and phone (if they’ve provided you with one).

This extensive visitor tracking is another strong point of Pure Chat. The tool puts great focus on helping you get to know your visitors, and even track them across multiple visits to the site.

Plus, you get to see your site traffic in real time too. This includes information like the visitors’ current location (specific page on your site), number of previous visits, the referring site, and more.

At this point, you can also start a chat with the person yourself. This creates some great opportunities. For instance, you can reach out to someone who’s looking at your pricing. Maybe something is unclear? With a live chat system, you can help them out.

Next, we have reporting. Pure Chat gives you stats on the number of conversations from a given period of time, the average chat lengths, the ratings that visitors left after finishing their conversations, and more. Also, this can all be broken down by team members, so you can see which of your employees is the most effective.

Lastly, there are mobile apps available. This means that you can be on top of things at all times, even if you’re not at your main workstation.

Let’s stop here with the features, but I honestly feel like I’m only scratching the surface. There’s a lot more interesting stuff waiting inside Pure Chat. Things like Zapier integrations, canned responses, and so on.

I was actually surprised to see that they have a free plan. After all, not that long ago, live chat was very expensive.

The bottom line

I’m one of those people who honestly don’t know if they can take full advantage of a live chat system. However, since there is a completely free plan available, which allows you to experiment with the most important features, and see if Pure Chat is a solution for you … why wouldn’t you try?

Honestly, even if you don’t see your site as the perfect target for live chat software, there really is no risk.

And for those of you who indeed do need live chat (like most e-commerce stores, for example), this should be a no-brainer. Just go ahead and test it out.
